Jackie and Bobby came to me in the very early stages of their podcast. It was simply an idea at the time. As we were both shifting gears in our careers, it made sense for us to work together on this project.
It began with an exploration into the ‘why’ of the show. Why should it exist? Why should the audience care? What purpose does it serve the world?
Once we think we understood the audience, we determined how we wanted the viewer to ‘feel’ while watching the show. What was the atmosphere we thought they’d feel comfortable in? This narrowed us down to Jackie and Bobby’s newly-renovated kitchen. Not an ideal place for sound absorption, nor for setup and breakdown, but it was just too stunning not to use the space.
From the start, Jackie and Bobby let me know they wanted a high quality output, and were willing to invest accordingly. That’s why we chose a Canon C100 MKII for their main camera. The camera sits on a sturdy Magnus tripod, and when they do remote interviews, they use a teleprompters so they’re able to see the other person through the camera lens.
